BRUTON NAMED TO GTP AUTHORITY BOARD
KINSTON, N.C. -- Dr. V. Charles Bruton, Ph.D., of Raleigh has been appointed by Governor Beverly Perdue to board membership of the N.C. Global TransPark Authority. Bruton is the environmental projects manager at the RK&K office in Raleigh.
The N.C. Global TransPark Authority, chaired by Secretary of Transportation Eugene Conti, is responsible for planning, building and operating the Global TransPark (GTP) project.
RK&K is the trade name of Rummel, Klepper & Kahn, LLP, a Maryland consulting firm that operates in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. The firm specializes in engineering issues and has clients in the local, state federal and private industry sectors.
At RK&K, Dr. Bruton works in the firm's practice of biological studies for transportation and construction-related projects, permit and mitigation efforts and development of long-term relationships with clients.
Dr. Bruton has more than 35 years experience in environmental oversight, including a 30-year career with the N.C. Department of Transportation, where he often represented the department as a speaker and committee member at professional conferences and seminars.
Dr. Bruton earned both undergraduate and doctoral degrees in botany at North Carolina State University and an undergraduate degree in biology from then-Atlantic Christian College.
The N.C. Global TransPark is an aerospace and logistics business park developed in Lenoir County by the state. Located near several major military installations, the GTP is designed to attract aerospace and logistics-related companies and bring increased economic opportunities to the state.
The GTP offers environmentally permitted commercial real estate and shipping capabilities to almost any size company. The GTP features a centerpiece 11,500-foot runway, available warehousing and a Foreign-Trade Zone onsite.
