NEW GTP SHELL BUILDING NEARS COMPLETION
Construction on a new, 108,000 square-feet shell building at the N.C. Global TransPark (GTP) is nearing completion and will be ready for occupancy soon. The building is designed for light manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution. Read more...
2011 DUBAI AIR SHOW SUCCESS MEANS BOOST FOR NORTH CAROLINA
The holiday season certainly serves as a boost for the economy. The aerospace and aviation industry is no exception. As people head to the airports for the long Thanksgiving weekend, they can expect to experience full flights according to the Air Transport Association. Meanwhile, at the 2011 Dubai Air Show that wrapped up on November 17, records were set for attendance and—more importantly—orders.
Media outlets are reporting $63.6 billion in orders made during the event, including a record-setting $18 billion order by Emirates Airlines. The success of the Air Show translates into boosts for Boeing and Airbus. In turn, new orders will positively impact the already busy Spirit AeroSystems’ Kinston plant. Read more…

SPIRIT AEROSYSTEMS EXPANDS WORK AT GLOBAL TRANSPARK
Governor Bev Perdue announced today that a new aviation work package is coming to the state. Spirit AeroSystems Inc., one of the world’s largest independent suppliers of commercial airplane assemblies, will add a new program to its manufacturing operations at the N.C. Global TransPark in Kinston.

GTP RAIL SPUR CONSTRUCTION ON SCHEDULE
Grading and drainage work on the 5.8-mile rail spur to serve the N.C. Global TransPark (GTP) is about 70 percent complete, track construction is slated to begin in June and the project is on schedule for a late 2011 completion.

EASTERN NC REPRESENTED AT FARNBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL AIR SHOW
A group of private aerospace companies and state agencies are joining forces to represent Eastern North Carolina at the upcoming Farnborough International Air Show later this month. Representatives from North Carolina's Eastern Region, the Global TransPark, Spatial Integrated Systems, and Commerce Overseas Corporation will travel to England to take part in one of the world's largest aerospace events. SOLAR ENERGIZES GLOBAL TRANSPARK CENTER
The North Carolina Global TransPark (GTP) will soon feed power to the electric grid with the help of ‘green’ energy technology. Greenfield Power, a Charlotte-based solar firm, will install a solar photovoltaic (PV) system at GTP and Progress Energy Carolinas will purchase its entire output to serve the utility’s customers.
